Hazelbury celebrate reading on World Book Day!

Thank you to everyone for making an effort for World Book Day last week. The children and staff enjoyed dressing up as book characters, and having the opportunity to showcase their costumes in a special assembly. Each class also enjoyed reading with another class in their Hazelbury family during the day. The children enjoyed helping each other to read and sharing their favourite stories. Year Four had a special visit from an author and illustrator and they had the opportunity to participate in a special workshop about becoming an author.

‘Drop Everything and Read’ was once again a huge success. When children heard the bell throughout the day, they had to stop what they were doing and start reading their chosen book. As an added extra this year, if the children were on the playground when they heard the special bell, they had to act out a scene from a book instead!

Congratulations to the winners in each of our Hazelbury Families who created truly fantastic and unique book characters for our competition. They were presented in fantastic ways- from home made books, sock puppets and even 3D canvases showcasing their character!
