Year Six children have a hands on engineering experience!
There was an amazing opportunity this week for Year 6 students to enhance their learning on WW2 and discover the power of flight by creating their own flying machines. Chris, an expert on Hurricane Fighter Jets, asked pupils to build their own jet by assembling parts in groups. The children discovered the theories explaining how aeroplanes fly and built prototypes to test. Saira from Robin class said, “This was amazing, I think I want to be an engineer when I’m older.” One group designed and built a rocket, which on its maiden voyage, managed to glide fifty metres. Needless to say Chris was speechless! Well done to our future engineers.
